In early February, it was confirmed that The Vision's Bron Breakker was injured and out "indefinitely." It was a major setback for WWE's creative plans ahead of WrestleMania, especially as the rising star and leader of The Vision had been a focal point of RAW for months.
We soon learned that, after flipping over the announce table at ringside the week before, Breakker had inadvertently injured himself and needed to undergo immediate hernia surgery.
Before that mishap, all signs pointed to the former NXT Champion facing a returning Seth Rollins at the Show of Shows. Breakker's meltdown came after he'd been targeted by a mystery hooded figure—using Rollins' moves—in the weeks before (leading to him being immediately eliminated from the Royal Rumble by Oba Femi after entering at #2).
We've since learned that Rollins was under the hood, and he's spent the past few weeks taking out his frustrations over being expelled from The Vision on Paul Heyman. While it looked like WWE was building to Breakker returning to protect his mentor, the former World Heavyweight Champion was taken out by Gunther this past Monday.
According to Dave Meltzer, the decision to go with Rollins vs. Gunther at WrestleMania was an intentional creative choice rather than a direct result of Breakker's injury.
"The idea of Rollins vs. Breakker is very much alive, but they are wanting the proper television build time," Meltzer shared. "The entire storyline the past few weeks with Rollins and Paul Heyman was always to build to Gunther choking Rollins out in Madison Square Garden."
There is an element of necessity to the move, as Gunther was supposed to face WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio at the Show of Shows before he was sidelined with an injury of his own. That left the Austrian Superstar without an opponent, though WWE has yet to explain why Gunther would choose to align himself with Heyman.
As for the rest of The Vision, it's looking like we'll see Logan Paul and Austin Theory team up with IShowSpeed to battle The Usos and LA Knight.
There's currently no word on when or where Breakker will return to WWE.
