During the February 9 edition of RAW, we learned that The Vision's Bron Breakker was injured and out "indefinitely." It was a major setback for WWE's creative plans ahead of WrestleMania, especially as the rising star had been a focal point of the Monday night show for months.
We soon learned that, after flipping over the announce table at ringside the week before, Breakker had inadvertently injured himself and needed to undergo immediate hernia surgery,
Before that mishap, all signs pointed to the former NXT Champion facing a returning Seth Rollins at the Show of Shows. Breakker's meltdown came after he'd been targeted by a mystery hooded figure—using Rollins' moves—in the weeks before (leading to him being immediately eliminated from the Royal Rumble by Oba Femi after entering at #2).
Rollins has since returned and currently appears to be on a collision course with Logan Paul. However, there may yet be another twist in the tale.
According to PWInsider.com, Breakker is now expected to report to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, this week as part of the process of his being medically cleared for in-ring action.
Provided all goes as planned, then Rollins vs. Breakker at WrestleMania may still happen. Original plans called for the rising star to challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship, though WWE has since had to pivot to Roman Reigns taking on the Second City Saint.
Still, Rollins squaring off with his former protégé is a big money match for the Show of Shows, and could salvage WWE's plans for The Vision after a series of injuries that have also seen Bronson Reed left on the sidelines.
Addressing Breakker's status earlier this year, WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman said, "He's going to come out hungrier than ever because now he understands what it's like to miss out. And that's just going to be something for him that's going to f*ck with his head and f*ck with his head to the point that when he comes back, he's going to appreciate this even more than he already does."
It would be a real shame for Breakker to miss WrestleMania, especially when he's on the precipice of Superstardom. Ultimately, he can bounce back from that, but as of now, there's a very good chance he'll be back in time to make his mark on the Showcase of the Immortals.
Stay tuned for updates as we have them.
