WWE gave its Superstars some well-deserved time off over Christmas and has held just a handful of non-televised house shows as part of its annual "Holiday Tour."
CM Punk has been part of those - you might have caught a viral clip of him heading out to the ring in a towel and shower cap - and squared off with World Heavyweight Champion Gunther inside a Steel Cage in his hometown of Chicago yesterday evening.
The title changing hands at a WWE Live event wasn't ever going to happen and the heel champion retained it courtesy of an unexpected helping hand from The Judgement Day's Dominik Mysterio.
He was Punk's first opponent when he returned to WWE last November - during this same holiday tour, funnily enough - and it's unclear whether there are any plans to pick this feud up on TV. There are, however, rumblings we'll see Punk vs. Gunter at WrestleMania.
Here are the full results from the December 29 show in Chicago:

"I’m still reconciling with the schedule and the fact that I’m not 30 years old," Punk said earlier this year of his in-ring plans moving forward. "When you ask, 'Who do you want to get in the ring with?' The list is pretty lengthy. Chad Gable is at the top of the list. Bronson Reed is at the top of the list. [Ludwig] Kaiser is somebody I see a lot in and would be fun. Gunther."
"I’m selfishly talking about guys I would love to wrestle on house shows," he said likely not knowing he'd get his chance this soon with the latter. "Then you talk about the money stuff. The marquee stuff. What is a match you can see main eventing a pay-per-view. That’s what gets my juices flowing."
"Whenever myself and Roman Reigns are face to face on television, that’s going to be a moment. The table is set for myself and Cody [Rhodes]. You never know when The Rock is going to come back. There is big match John [Cena] coming right around the corner," the Best in the World concluded.
