WWE Fans Aren't Happy With CM Punk's SATURDAY NIGHT'S MAIN EVENT Challenger For Vacant World Heavyweight Title

During last night's RAW, Seth Rollins' World Heavyweight Championship was officially vacated due to injury. A Battle Royal followed to decide who would face CM Punk for the title, but fans aren't happy.

Yesterday evening, RAW opened with Bron Breakker—carrying the World Heavyweight Championship—making his way to the ring alongside Bronson Reed and Paul Heyman.

With Seth Rollins confirmed to have undergone shoulder surgery, RAW General Manager Adam Pearce announced that he'll be stripped of the title. Breakker made him say "please" when he asked that it be returned, prompting Pearce to ban him and Reed from the Battle Royal to #1 contender CM Punk's opponent at Saturday Night's Main Event.

In the main event, Jimmy Uso repeatedly saved his brother from being eliminated, only to get tangled up in the ropes with LA Knight...prompting Jey to eliminate both men before going on to win the match.

He's getting closer to heel status and will now face the Best in the World for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night's Main Event on November 1.

The response online to Jey's victory has not been good. Despite being over with fans (well, the "YEET" chant is, anyway), Jey wasn't a popular choice to win this year's Royal Rumble, and many viewed his WrestleMania victory over Gunther as a let-down. His title reign was also largely forgettable.

While Punk seems like the obvious victor next month, the prospect of Jey becoming World Heavyweight Champion again isn't going down well with those who have already cooled on the WWE product this year. Knight was the far more popular choice, as was Breakker (who, it seems, WWE isn't quite ready to pull the trigger on yet).
