It's fair to say that WWE Fastlane played out in a pretty unexpected manner. The vast majority of rumours proved to be incorrect, with Roman Reigns beating Braun Strowman clean without so much as a single appearance from The Undertaker to change the outcome of the match. Charlotte's much touted PPV streak also ended after some strange interference from Sasha Banks.
The main event, however, played out exactly as expected. Goldberg became WWE Universal Champion after defeating Kevin Owens with a Spear and Jackhammer in a matter of seconds. Owens was distracted after Chris Jericho's music hit and that now sets up the long rumoured match between the two at WrestleMania. It also makes Goldberg's match with Brock Lesnar a title bout.
