WWE has announced that Money in the Bank 2026 will now take place on Saturday, October 10, at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, delaying the event by a month from its originally scheduled September 6 date. Before that, it was dated for August 29.
While WWE did not provide a reason for the change, this places one of the company's biggest annual PLEs in a very different position on the calendar than fans have become accustomed to.
For much of the past decade, Money in the Bank has been held between May and July, bridging the gap between WrestleMania and SummerSlam. The event's signature ladder matches typically set the stage for major new storylines heading into the latter, with the briefcase winners often looming over WWE's championship scenes through the second half of the year.
Moving the show to October creates a significant change to the expected dynamic. Rather than acting as a launchpad for SummerSlam, Money in the Bank will now take place after WWE's biggest summer event and much closer to the company's end-of-year offerings.
That creates an interesting scenario for whoever captures the men's and women's Money in the Bank contracts, as their guaranteed championship opportunities will now stretch well into 2027.
The shift also continues a trend that's seen WWE play around with the placement of its premium live events. In recent years, the company has adjusted the timing of several major shows while expanding its calendar internationally and introducing new events in key markets.
Money in the Bank remains one of WWE's most influential shows thanks to the unique stipulation attached to its ladder matches. The winners earn a championship contract that can be cashed in at any time over the following year, a concept that has produced some of the most memorable title changes in company history.
Fans eager to attend the event won't have to wait long to secure their seats. Tickets for Money in the Bank will officially go on sale on Friday, July 10 at 10 a.m. ET through Ticketmaster. WWE will also host an exclusive presale beginning on Thursday, July 9 at 10 a.m. ET.
Stay tuned for updates on Money in the Bank as we have them.
