During Monday night's episode of RAW, it was revealed that CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, and Jey Uso will battle Logan Paul and The Vision (Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed) inside WarGames at the Survivor Series PLE later this month.
While each team is expected to add at least one more member, it sounds like WWE once had much bigger plans for a "dream team" of WWE Superstars at the upcoming PLE.
"Now that Cena already beat Dominik for the title, that match isn’t happening in San Diego," Dave Meltzer recently shared. "I figured, why not do Cena, Roman Reigns, Punk, Jey Uso, and Cody Rhodes, and make it like a dream team for the babyface team at WarGames. Now I can tell you that that’s not happening. I was told 'not even close.'"
While Cena or Reigns could still be added to the match, it's not looking likely, and if this is going to be 5 v 5 instead of 4 v 4, it's going to be very interesting to see who now joins each side. From a storyline perspective, it would be pretty baffling for Reigns to be excluded.
As for Cena, while he will retire at Saturday Night's Main Event next month, the newly minted Grand Slam Champion is expected to wrestle at Survivor Series: War Games.
For what it's worth, another big match originally planned for the event has seemingly been scrapped.
"Rey and Dominik are not wrestling in San Diego, so I did find that out too," Meltzer said. "I don’t know what that means. I don’t know if that means Cena and Dom is still on or they’re going in a different direction to where they were going, because the Cena and Dom title change was going to be in San Diego originally, not in Boston."
Survivor Series: WarGames takes place on November 29, so WWE does have time to build to the show. Right now, the only other confirmed match is Rhea Ripley, Iyo Sky, Alexa Bliss, and Charlotte Flair vs. Nia Jax, Lash Legend, and The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane).
As always, stay tuned for updates as we have them.
