When will Penta and Fenix join forces?
It’s a natural question many fans ask especially the ones who watched their careers in Lucha Underground, MLW, TNA/Impact Wrestling, and AEW. The Lucha Brothers have been a decorated tag team for over ten years and they've won tag team gold in nearly every promotion that they’ve been in.
However, both Penta and Fenix came into the WWE as singles stars and are currently riding that wave on separate brands. Penta has been circling around the Intercontinental title scene since he made his debut in January and his brother just got a taste of the United States Championship a few weeks back.
Now the brothers don’t particularly have much going on, but Penta isn’t looking to team up with his brother anytime soon. The WWE star stated on the "Battleground Podcast," that he’s currently enjoying his singles career.
“I love my brother, I love Lucha Bros. Now, I enjoy my singles career. I think my brother [does] too because I don’t know, maybe 15 years ago was the last time when we worked separate. After that, every single match, every single company, every single everything was together with the Lucha Brothers. As a tag team, we’ve conquered everything around the world but now the most important thing is here in WWE, the best company in the universe. Imagine the best tag team in the universe together again in the best company in the universe.”
However, that doesn’t mean he’ll never join his brother in the future. Penta knows that will be inevitable and names a certain tag team as their dream opponents.
"I think this is one of my dream matches right now, like tag team matches: Usos against Lucha Bros," Penta continued. "Imagine. Wow. I'm excited right now."
Penta is fresh off a loss to Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship. It’s unknown if WWE has any plans to put the brothers together anytime soon, though the company is clearly ready to throw Fenix in the tag team division given the randomness of his team up with Andrade a couple of months back.
Given the track record of both men outside of WWE, it would be surprising if the Lucha Brothers never arrived in WWE. But the company does seem to be doing things with Penta on the RAW side at the moment. Granted, he just lost another IC title match to Dominik, but there seems to be more brewing for the former AEW star.
