Night of Champions takes place in Saudi Arabia this weekend, and while rumours swirled about a possible cancellation, the show does appear to be proceeding as planned (you can find a full preview of what's to come here).
That rumour may have been debunked, but we have plenty of others to share with you today. It's a busy time for WWE as Evolution 2 and SummerSlam are also on the horizon.
We're also in the midst of John Cena's retirement tour, and depending on how things go this weekend, we may be on the cusp of another "Summer of Punk."
You can read through these latest WWE rumours below:
- According to Dave Meltzer, WWE is still mulling over a possible WrestleMania in Saudi Arabia. However, in doing so, it could mean we get two versions of the Show of Shows.
- The historian explains that we'd potentially get "the Saudi WrestleMania and the actual WrestleMania," with the idea being to "[ease] the backlash against doing it, and they can still get the money for WrestleMania in Saudi Arabia."
- Meltzer has also claimed that Jade Cargill was supposed to be the Women's Champion by WrestleMania 41. Her injury derailed those plans, meaning she'll likely win Queen of the Ring and challenge for one of the titles at SummerSlam.
- BodySlam.net reports that the idea was for Liv Morgan to challenge Iyo Sky for the Women's World Championship at Night of Champions before she was sidelined with an injury.
- PWInsider.com adds that Liv Morgan "won’t be making any appearances live on WWE programming in the near future" while she recovers from shoulder surgery.
- Despite speculation that Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio refused to compete in Saudi Arabia, PWInsider.com has learned that a legitimate "rib cage issue" led to him being pulled from Night of Champions. It's not a major problem, and he won't be out of action for long.
- LA Knight is not injured. PWInsider.com has confirmed it's just a storyline injury to enhance the Megastar's feud with Seth Rollins.
- Fightful has learned that Joe Hendry is "expected for more WWE dates."
- The site later revealed that Vickie Guerrero has been telling those close to her that she's expecting to return to WWE "within a few weeks." This suggests she'll play a role at Evolution 2 on July 13.
- Fans are eager to see Karrion Kross receive a push, but Wade Keller has been told by wrestlers that the former NXT Champion "just doesn’t really take bumps," with that being what's keeping him from "being a big star on the main roster."
- We've learned that there's a very good chance that CM Punk will walk out of Night of Champions with the Undisputed WWE Championship this weekend.
