We're days away from Backlash (you can read our preview by clicking here), and in the wake of WrestleMania, the upcoming PLE could set the stage for what looks to be an exciting summer for WWE.
The company is currently missing at least a couple of its biggest stars, and in our latest rumour roundup, we have updates on what the future holds in store for both Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes. There's also news on Liv Morgan and a possible WWE return for UFC icon Ronda Rousey.
Post-WrestleMania is always a strange time for WWE and a period when the company's momentum occasionally dips. We'll see if that's the case in 2025, but there are some undeniably promising updates here.
You can read through the latest WWE rumours below:
- According to @WrestleVotes, the current plan is for Roman Reigns to make his WWE return in early June. Dave Meltzer, meanwhile, believes WWE is planning a Reigns & CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins & Bron Breakker tag team match for either Money in the Bank or SummerSlam.
- As for former Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, he's no longer being advertised for any events until the May 16 SmackDown. The American Nightmare is now expected to make his return then.
- Wrestling Observer Radio reveals that WWE wanted to "surprise people" with Logan Paul's post-show attack on World Heavyweight Champion Jey Uso, believing it would work better on social media rather than the show itself.
- According to Fightful, Liv Morgan will return to RAW sooner than expected, as she's going to return to the U.S. on May 17 after filming her role in Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo.
- The site also reports that Chelsea Green has signed a new, multi-year deal with WWE.
- It's also said that WWE Superstars aren't upset about the company running only five match cards for PLEs like this weekend's Backlash, despite the fact that it limits their opportunities to make more money.
- Wrestling Observer Radio has revealed that WWE remains eager to work with Ronda Rousey, while Damage CTRL is thought to be done in the company following Dakota Kai's release. It's unclear what this will mean for Asuka and Kairi Saine when they return.
- WWE is also said to be really high on current Women's World Champion Iyo Sky at the moment.
- Finally, in news we're sure you'll welcome, it sounds like WWE plans to take SmackDown back to two hours as of June 6, though the date hasn't been finalised...yet.
