Night of Champions set the stage for some exciting new storylines as we head into Saturday Night's Main Event, Evolution 2, and even SummerSlam.
There are lots of exciting WWE rumours once again doing the rounds online, ranging from plans for Roman Reigns to a chaotic build to Evolution 2, and a wild claim about CM Punk's recent apology in Saudi Arabia.
Another WWE Superstar may have joined the cast of Street Fighter, while some major changes could be coming to the company heading into 2026 (lending weight to reports that we could get two WrestleManias next year).
You can read through these latest WWE rumours below:
- It's no secret that Roman Reigns will return to WWE soon, and @WrestleVotes reveals that there are internal talks about him doing so with a new variation of the "Tribal Chief" moniker.
- BodySlam.net believes WWE is interested in signing Private Party and Danhausen when their current AEW deals expire. The site also claims that Octagon Jr. has signed a WWE contract.
- The Wrestling Observer Newsletter says that Claudio Castagnoli's absence from AEW programming is "not an injury and has nothing do to with his name being mentioned on WWE television nor a business issue." His absence is described as "nothing negative at all."
- Evolution 2 takes place the same weekend as Saturday Night's Main Event and NXT's The Great American Bash, and somewhat unsurprisingly, Fightful Select has learned that WWE has reached out to multiple Legends for the all-female event. The side adds that "creative and the negotiating came down to the wire," suggesting the last-minute build is causing chaos backstage.
- The site also claims that Chelsea Green was absent from the June 13 episode of SmackDown due to a nasty sinus infection that led to hearing loss and a trip to the emergency room.
- Karrion Kross has already laughed off claims that he isn't being pushed because he won't take bumps, and for what it's worth, Fightful Select has spoken with "multiple" producers who have worked on his matches "and they claimed that has never been an issue they’ve encountered."
- Dave Meltzer, no fan of CM Punk, believes that the fan the Second City Saint apologised to in Saudi Arabia for his past remarks about the country was "obviously planted" because "someone wanted him to apologise."
- The pro wrestling historian has also suggested Rusev and AEW President Tony Khan clashed over creative, largely because the Bulgarian Brute (who recently returned to WWE) refused to lose before leaving the company.
- Back to Fightful Select, and the site has heard WWE will hold three PLEs in Saudi Arabia in 2026.
- @WrestleVotes, meanwhile, reports that TKO has considered moving WWE's headquarters to Las Vegas when the lease expires on its current building in Stamford, Connecticut.
- A fun story to end on today, as Nexus Point News (via ComicBookMovie.com) has shared a rumour revealing that Cody Rhodes is in talks to play Guile in the live-action Street Fighter movie, which has already tapped Roman Reigns to play the villainous Akuma.
