Check out our latest WWE rumor roundup below, but be warned that potential spoilers follow from this point on...
- According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is planning to have Cody Rhodes team up with Jelly Roll to face Randy Orton and Pat McAfee at Backlash on May 9. McAfee has repeatedly said that he'll leave WWE if The Viper doesn't win the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania, so take that as you will.
- Meltzer has also heard that Jelly Roll is currently scheduled to be in the American Nightmare's corner at the Show of Shows.
- The insider has also learned that many people in WWE are "not happy" with McAfee being inserted into the WrestleMania 42 main event, with one source even calling it "the most counterproductive thing" the company has done in a long time.
- Back to the WrestleMania card, and while WWE has Asuka vs. Iyo Sky listed internally as a match for the PLE, it's "up in the air" and may be saved for Backlash.
- @WrestleVotes has learned that the opening match of WrestleMania Saturday will be LA Knight and The Usos vs. IShowSpeed, Logan Paul, and Austin Theory. As for Sunday, it will be Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar. Fightful is also reporting that ESPN pushed for the latter bout to go on first because they wanted Lesnar in the first hour of the event, which is airing on ESPN's cable network. WWE was fine with that.
- In a positive update, it sounds like Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez will both be cleared in time for WrestleMania, following their recent concussion scare on RAW.
- Bodyslam.net has heard that WWE is considering a double turn in the United States Championship match at WrestleMania, with Sami Zayn turning heel and Trick Williams going babyface.
- Following the debut of The Usos' new theme song during the Madison Square Garden RAW, it's said that WWE has decided to drop it and not use it again. That's because fans in the building clearly weren't into it (there was no YEET-ing, for starters).
- The Observer has mentioned that NXT stars Ethan Page, Blake Monroe, Jacy Jayne, and Ricky Saints have "all been heavily discussed" for main roster call-ups after WrestleMania. Sol Ruca, meanwhile, is said to have "made a very favorable impression" on WWE higher-ups.
