Wrestlepalooza is fast approaching, and the rumour mill is churning out some exciting stories heading into what should be a huge PLE for WWE as the company moves its biggest shows from Peacock to ESPN.
We've already brought you news on what's happening with AJ Lee, and this latest rumour roundup includes updates on that show, surprising Stephanie McMahon backlash, the latest on Vince McMahon's standing in WWE, and Karrion Kross' supposed creative before he was released.
We also have minor updates on Roman Reigns, El Grande Americano, and The Usos.
Check out these latest WWE rumours below, but be warned that potential spoilers follow for several upcoming shows.
- As the Wrestlepalooza card starts taking shape ahead of September 20, PW Insider is reporting that WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes is set to defend his title against Drew McIntyre.
- Roman Reigns was written off television at Clash in Paris so he can shoot his scenes in the upcoming Street Fighter movie throughout September. Rhodes should be finished filming his scenes by Wrestlepalooza, but there will reportedly be "some crossover" for him and Reigns, suggesting they'll share the screen.
- Wrestling Observer Radio notes that The Usos, Jimmy and Jey, are reuniting to battle The Vision. That match is also tentatively scheduled for Wrestlepalooza.
- WWE is said to be "very impressed" with Ludwig Kaiser's work as El Grande Americano (a persona originated by Chad Gable before he was sidelined with an injury). Now, he's set for a big push in AAA.
- The Righteous is a professional wrestling tag team in AEW and Ring of Honor, consisting of Vincent and Dutch. They're currently wrapping up independent dates and will eventually sign with WWE, according to Fightful Select.
- Stephanie McMahon's podcast, What's Your Story? With Steph McMahon, recently featured the former WWE executive promoting a VPN service. Fightful Select has learned that "at least one source we spoke to at ESPN wasn’t thrilled."
- Brock Lesnar didn't make a surprise appearance in France for Clash in Paris or RAW, despite speculation to the contrary. Even so, The Beast is scheduled for multiple SmackDown shows before Wrestlepalooza.
- The former WWE Champion has obviously got caught up in the sexual misconduct scandal surrounding Vince McMahon, and the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter shed additional light on how the billionaire is currently perceived. It's said that there was even "a period when all but a few of [Vince] McMahon’s closest friends had nothing to do with him."
- Why? Well, "in a lot of the cases it was because of their wives being appalled [by] the lawsuit and not wanting their husbands to have an association."
- "People in WWE were told not to have any contact" with the former WWE Chairman for a time, but it seems that's changed based on the guest list for his 80th birthday.
- Former WWE Superstars Karrion Kross and Scarlett recently spoke with Denise Salcedo, and the former made some bold claims about creative plans for him after SummerSlam (which Kross says were scrapped with little warning).
- "The creative we were supposed to have on Monday Night RAW got killed on Sunday. The creative involved other people," Kross said. "I would love to tell people that want to know, but that idea could still be salvaged for that other person involved, so I don’t want to jack up their creative talking about it."
- He added, "It was something really big and it was something people would have enjoyed. I can tell you that right now. Maybe one day we can do that creative and we can revisit this conversation."
