WWE brought back Saturday Night's Main Event yesterday evening and kicked the show off with Drew McIntyre taking on Sami Zayn. The match got off to a hot start as the two men brawled at ringside before the action moved back into the ring.
It looked like Zayn might be in with a chance of winning the bout after he countered a Claymore with a boot and Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall. McIntyre dodged a Helluva King by escaping from the ring and delivered a Claymore on the way back in for the 1-2-3.
The Women's World Championship match was up next as Liv Morgan went one-on-one with Iyo Sky. It was a competitive bout but when The Judgement Day member countered a moonsault, she was able to hit the Oblivion to score the win. After the match, Rhea Ripley made her way out for a staredown with Morgan.
Gunther then had to try and hold on to his World Heavyweight Championship against both Finn Balor and Damian Priest. All three men gained the advantage at one time or another in this competitive Triple Threat match.
However, in the closing moments of this bout, Balor hit Gunther with the Coup de Grace only for Priest to break things up and hit his former ally with a South of Heaven chokeslam. Gunther pulled Priest out to ringside and took him down with a powerbomb on the ring steps. With that, he got back in the ring and pinned Balor after hitting him with another of his patented powerbombs.
Chelsea Green became the first-ever Women's United States Champion when she defeated Michin, though the fan-favourite heel did so with an assist from Piper Niven.
In the main event, Cody Rhodes brought back the classic winged eagle title for one night only as he put his Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against Kevin Owens.
It was a fantastic match which saw KO never nearly pick up the win after taking down the American Nightmare with a Stunner (unfortunately for the heel, the referee was knocked out at ringside at the time). The match continued and, after Owens attempted to use a steel chair, Rhodes countered by hitting the Cross Rhodes on that foreign object. With that, he narrowly retained his title.
After Saturday Night's Main Event went off the air, Owens hit Rhodes with a Piledriver and got into a physical altercation with Triple H.
