The December 27, 2024 edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown emanated out of the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
For those who missed the final SmackDown of the year, here are the results of all the matches that took place, as well as notes on the other highlights that happened during this episode.
— The show started with footage of WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, filling the audience in on the situation with Kevin Owens taking out Cody Rhodes with a piledriver and stealing the Winged Eagle belt. SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis clarified that just because Owens is in possession of this belt, he is not in any means the rightful owner of the WWE Championship, or that belt in any fashion. Owens has until the end of the night to give it back, or there will be repercussions.
— Cathy Kelley interviewed Naomi and Bianca Belair about the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship title situation, wherein Naomi has filled in for Jade Cargill after the latter was attacked and injured, to prevent Belair from having to vacate the titles. Naomi was hyped to be able to step up in this role. Belair reiterated that they still haven't forgotten about what happened with Jade and are looking into who attacked her. Bayley came over to them and Naomi was excited to be teaming with her, but even Belair has warmed up to Bayley at this point, reluctantly.
Nia Jax, upon her entrance for the next match, denied having any part in the attack on Jade Cargill, and accused Bianca Belair as being the top suspect, instead.
— Six-Woman Tag Team Match: Bayley, Bianca Belair, and Naomi defeated WWE Women's Champion Nia Jax, Ms. Money in the Bank Tiffany Stratton and WWE Women's Speed Champion Candice LeRae by pinfall with Naomi pinning LeRae after LeRae was distracted by arguing with Stratton.
— A-Town Down Under (Grayson Waller and Austin Theory) gave an invoice to Nick Aldis over their issues with Braun Strowman wrecking The Grayson Waller Effect set. Aldis wasn't entertaining their shenanigans. Sami Zayn interrupted the meeting to say he needs to talk to Aldis. After the commercial break, Zayn pitched that since The Bloodline showed up on Monday Night Raw, he should be allowed to get some revenge. Carmelo Hayes interrupted to give a Christmas card to Aldis. Zayn told him that he knows Melo is new around here, but he should wait his turn. Hayes facetiously gave him a card as well and after some trash talking, Zayn pitched the idea of facing Hayes later to teach him a lesson.
— Braun Strowman defeated Austin Theory by pinfall.
— Kevin Owens, in his car, claimed that he is indeed the rightful WWE champion. He will only come into the arena if he has assurance no security guards or "cronies" or anyone else will be in the ring with the two of them.
— Chelsea Green held a Women's United States Championship Celebration with Piper Niven. Michin interrupted and went after them with a kendo stick.
— Backstage, Nick Aldis asked DIY if they had anything to say about who attacked The Street Profits a few weeks ago. They denied knowing anything, so he brought Pretty Deadly over, who had said they were eye witnesses. Kit Wilson and Elton Prince tried to extort some funding for their musical out of Aldis, who threatened to just fire them if they didn't speak up. Instead of saying it was Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano, they changed their "Gar--" to "Garza", which prompted The Street Profits to find Los Garza backstage and attack them. A brawl ensued and Aldis told them to go to the ring.
— The Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins with B-Fab) defeated Los Garza of Legado del Fantasma (Angel and Berto with Elektra Lopez) by pinfall.
— Backstage, DIY asked Pretty Deadly what their goal is. Both teams somewhat agreed to scratch each others' backs. The Street Profits then thanked Pretty Deadly for giving them the heads up about Los Garza. Motor City Machine Guns then told The Street Profits they need to go to the back of the line. Apollo Crews interrupted to say it was DIY that attacked them, he saw it, and they're getting played.
— Sami Zayn defeated Carmelo Hayes by disqualification. Braun Strowman went after Carmelo Hayes, who ran off. The Bloodline went on the attack for Zayn, who was backed up by Strowman, but the numbers game of Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, and Tama Tonga was too much for Zayn and Strowman, who got taken out. Officials rushed the ring to stop The Bloodline from doing any more damage. Then, Kevin Owens came out, before it cut to a commercial.
— After the break, the ring was just Owens and Aldis. This segment boiled down to Cody Rhodes coming out and challenging Owens to a ladder match for the title at Royal Rumble before Owens got the jump on him.
