Preview & Predictions for WWE SmackDown:
On tap for tonight's episode, the primary focal point is obviously going to be the finals of The Last Time is Now tournament, as Gunther and LA Knight will battle it out to settle who gets to face John Cena eight days later at the December 13th WWE Saturday Night's Main Event special.
From the start of this, the heavy rumor and the thing that made the most sense always revolved around Gunther winning this, even while he was out of action with a nose injury. Once he was confirmed for the tournament, that felt like a locked-in deal and a certainty. Nothing is entirely guaranteed (as evidenced by the way this tournament has played out with Sheamus and Penta getting injured), but I feel like this is as much of a safe bet as you could possibly get. I just can't see a scenario where they booked this all to lead to LA Knight being the one to retire Cena.
Naturally, other things will be on the card as well. We'll see more progression with this Jade Cargill and Chelsea Green storyline that is for some reason repeating the "WWE Women's Champion and WWE Women's United States Champion have beef with each other because we have no other ideas of what we want to do with this women's division on SmackDown" concept that had previously happened with Tiffany Stratton and Giulia.
We'll see some more within the tag team division, too, after The Wyatt Sicks and MFTs have been heading toward a collision course, particularly following the Survivor Series elimination match.
All that and more will go down tonight, so keep checking and refreshing for the most up-to-date results!
Here are your results for WWE SmackDown - December 5, 2025:
- The show opened with a video package leading into a backstage segment where Drew McIntyre was told to leave the arena. Cody Rhodes attacked McIntyre inside his car and then, when they were separated, Rhodes went to the ring tot say he needs Nick Aldis to reinstate McIntyre so he can get his hands on him to get some revenge for how Drew attacked him on his tour bus.
- The Terror Twins (Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley) are going to face Aleister Black and Zelina Vega next week.
- United States Championship Open Challenge: Ilja Dragunov (c) defeated Carmelo Hayes by pinfall. Tommaso Ciampa got involved and pushed Hayes off the turnbuckle when he was going for Nothing but Net. Ref Charles Robinson didn't see, nor did Ilja Dragunov, who was upset about that win afterward when he saw the footage.
- Alexa Bliss defeated Kairi Sane by pinfall. After the match, Nia Jax and Lash Legend attacked.
- Cody Rhodes will apparently face the winner of Oba Femi vs. Ricky Saints from NXT Deadline at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event.
- Jade Cargill defeated Alba Fyre by pinfall. Chelsea Green was run off by Giulia and Kiana James, which distracted Fyre, but this was a quick one.
- Fraxiom wants another match with #DIY, and Ilja Dragunov is mad at Ciampa's interference, so he wants a match against Ciampa. Nick Aldis grants him that match for next week. Then, Dragunov stood face-to-face opposite the MFTs (Tama Tonga more specifically) to keep teasing that rivalry.
- Jade Cargill had a backstage spat with Michin and B-Fab.
- Solo Sikoa responded to the ending of last week's Survivor Series match with The Wyatt Sicks by basically just saying the MFTs are going after them, tossing out a "Bo-lieve" reference at the end. The Wyatt Sicks then appeared after the lights went out and a brawl erupted.
- The Miz complained that he deserves to be on Saturday Night's Main Event. Bayley is apparently booked against Sol Ruca.
- The Last Time is Now Tournament Final: Gunther defeated LA Knight by submission.
