The December 6, 2024 edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown emanated out of the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
For those who missed it, here are the results of all the matches that took place, as well as notes on the other highlights that happened during this episode.
— The show opened with a medical update on those who were injured during the WarGames match at WWE Survivor Series. Bronson Reed has a broken ankle from his massive Tsunami attempt where he crashed through the table, Jimmy Uso has a broken toe from his splash off the top of the cage, and Tonga Loa has a torn bicep he suffered while defending himself from CM Punk's attack with the toolbox. All of them are listed as being out indefinitely.
— Cody Rhodes cut a promo and was interrupted by American Made (Chad Gable and The Creed Brothers). Gable mentioned that there is a "transfer window" that will be open soon, which would explain why he was there on SmackDown, despite being a Raw Superstar. Michael Cole later elaborated a bit to say that at the start of the new year with Raw moving to Netflix, there will be cooperation between all three brands (NXT included) to allow for some kind of trades. It was kept vague, but that is the implication. Gable and Rhodes eventually traded enough verbal barbs that The American Nightmare wanted a match for later on.
— Tiffany Stratton (the hometown girl for this show) defeated Naomi and Elektra Lopez in a triple threat match to advance in the tournament to crown the inaugural WWE Women's United States Championship. She will face Michin in the semifinals, and the winner of that match will face either Bayley or Chelsea Green in the finals at Saturday Night's Main Event.
— Bianca Belair defeated Piper Niven by pinfall. Later on, Belair was backstage talking to Naomi and was asked about Jade Cargill's attacker. Belair said she still doesn't know who did it, but when she finds out, it will be on sight.
— Shinsuke Nakamura came out to the ring and was interrupted by LA Knight, followed by Andrade. As they talked about who should get the next shot at Nakamura, they were both attacked by The Bloodline. The United States champion escaped unharmed, though. Solo Sikoa then cut a promo about how he's still The Tribal Chief.
— Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa defeated The Motor City Machine Guns to win the WWE Tag Team Championship after turning heel and Gargano low-blowing Sabin.
— Michael Cole talked to Kevin Owens inside KO's rental car. Owens maintained that Cody Rhodes is the bad guy in this feud and kicked Cole out of the car.
— Cody Rhodes defeated Chad Gable by pinfall.
