Preview & Predictions for WWE SmackDown:
On tap for tonight's episode, there will be three qualifying matches to determine some of the remaining spots left in the men's and women's Elimination Chamber matches (prior to the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view happening Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada).
On the women's side, one half of the women's tag team champions Bianca Belair will be up against Piper Niven and the returning Alexa Bliss will face off against Candice LeRae. My bets are on Belair and Bliss, but there's always a chance someone like Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez interferes and costs Bianca her spot.
On the men's side, one of the new acquisitions for the blue brand during the transfer window, Drew McIntyre, will have a harder task ahead to qualify as he's in a Triple Threat match with LA Knight and Jimmy Uso. All three stand a good chance at winning this, depending on who might get involved, as Damian Priest, Jacob Fatu, and Carmelo Hayes could all rear their heads. I'm leaning toward McIntyre, but I wouldn't be shocked in any direction.
Jey Uso and Charlotte Flair will also make appearances as they speak to SmackDown's top champions Cody Rhodes and Tiffany Stratton to assess whether they want to challenge them for their titles at WrestleMania, teasing either of those potential outcomes. I remain firm that I expect Uso to challenge Gunther, but I do think Flair will ultimately pick Stratton. I also 100% expect both of these promo segments to involve some kind of physicality to lead to something like Cody and Jey teaming up against Fatu and Tama Tonga and maybe Flair against Nia Jax.
Here are your results for WWE SmackDown - February 7, 2025:
- Jey Uso opened up the show with an in-ring promo with Cody Rhodes about how they respect each other, teasing that this could be the WrestleMania match. They were interrupted by Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga, leading to a fight that would turn into a standard "tag team match announced for later on" affair.
- Women’s Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: Bianca Belair defeated Piper Niven by pinfall.
- Katana Chance and Kayden Carter were shown backstage talking to Nick Aldis about how they're now on the SmackDown roster. Carmelo Hayes interrupted and booted them out of the room to say he should get a bye to get into the Elimination Chamber just like John Cena. Apparently, Adam Pearce called up Aldis to request Hayes face Akira Tozawa tonight because Hayes had cost Tozawa a spot in the Royal Rumble.
- #DIY cut an in-ring promo about how great they are and how The Motor City Machine Guns will never hold the tag team titles ever again. They asked for a moment of silence for that and were interrupted by Pretty Deadly looking to make good on the promise that with all they've done to help Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa retain the titles, they deserve the next shot. Nick Aldis booked an eliminator match, and Pretty Deadly defeated #DIY by pinfall to earn a future title opportunity.
- The Miz is still looking for people to partner up with now that he's on SmackDown and was trying to suck up to Cody Rhodes, who said he doesn't need his help. The Miz then got into The American Nightmare's head by saying "Jey Uso vs Cody Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania is one hell of a story."
- Men’s Elimination Chamber Qualifying Triple Threat Match: Drew McIntyre defeated LA Knight and Jimmy Uso by pinfall on Knight.
- Backstage, Damian Priest spoke to Byron Saxton about being in an Elimination Chamber qualifier next week. Braun Strowman interrupted, as he's also in that match (as well as Jacob Fatu). They jaw-jacked for a moment about how they're going to win.
- TBD - Charlotte Flair talks to Tiffany Stratton
- TBD - Women’s Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: Alexa Bliss vs Candice LeRae
- TBD - Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso vs Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga
