Tonight's episode of WWE SmackDown (Friday, July 17, 2026) emanates from MVP Arena in Albany, NY and will air starting at 8 p.m. ET on the USA Network.

On tap for tonight's episode, Adam Pearce will serve as acting SmackDown General Manager after Gunther attacked Nick Aldis at the end of last week's show. No official SmackDown television matches have been announced as of this writing, but Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Jade Cargill, Tiffany Stratton and Trick Williams are advertised by WWE, while MVP Arena also locally advertises Sami Zayn, Rhea Ripley, Gunther, Brie Bella, Paige, Solo Sikoa, Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss and Oba Femi vs Rusev for some reason (which goes to show how much they update those things).
I'd anticipate we'll get more on Baron Corbin's return from last week in some kind of segment with Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes.
We'll get a follow-up of Alexa Bliss being injured by Jade Cargill. Maybe Charlotte Flair issues the challenge for a match against Cargill at SummerSlam on this show, as that's been rumored?
It's the go-home show before Saturday Night's Main Event, so we need to get more with the Gunther story with Aldis and such, Cody Rhodes and CM Punk and Sami Zayn by nature, but we can also get continued build for SummerSlam regarding Jacob Fatu, Solo Sikoa, Royce Keys and such. Keys does have his issues going on with Damian Priest and R-Truth, so there should be some crossover within those storylines. At this point, I'm expecting The War Raiders to pop up again to say that they want a title match and for that to go nowhere, but maybe they're finally ready to accept the challenge and book it for another night.
I'd expect Fatal Influence to be booked in a tag team match to prep them for SNME as well. Maybe against Tiffany Stratton and Chelsea Green or something?

Here are your results for WWE SmackDown - July 17, 2026:
- Undisputed WWE Championship Scene — Gunther kicked things off to whine about how he doesn't want to team with Sami Zayn against CM Punk and Cody Rhodes tomorrow night at Saturday Night's Main Event. Adam Pearce, filling in for Nick Aldis, said that there is a stipulation for the match where if Gunther and Zayn win, they'll be added to the Undisputed WWE Championship match and it will become a Fatal 4-Way. Cody Rhodes came out and challenged Gunther to a match for the main event. Throughout the night, they kept talking about that (as per usual) with some backstage segments, one of which being Candice LeRae telling Gunther that as Sami's friend, she doesn't want Gunther to mess anything up for him, while Gunther said Zayn needs to stay out of his way. (Note: Blake Monroe also attacked Candice LeRae in that segment, just to introduce herself as the new girl and insult Johnny Gargano's haircut). In the main event, Cody and Gunther fought to a no-contest as a brawl erupted with Sami Zayn and CM Punk also getting involved.
- Undisputed WWE Championship Scene — Rhea Ripley won't be back for an undetermined amount of time. To compensate, there will be a Fatal 5-Way ladder match to crown an interim champion at SummerSlam. Tiffany Stratton defeated Jacy Jayne by pinfall and Jade Cargill defeated Nia Jax by disqualification (due to an attack from Charlotte Flair) to qualify. Since Jax was screwed out of that, Pearce gave her a chance to try again when she fights Flair next week on SmackDown in another qualifier.
- Finn Balor defeated Talla Tonga by pinfall.
- Men's United States Championship Championship Scene — Baron Corbin had a vignette to speak about how he's coming for it all and how the roster isn't as tough as he is. Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams traded some verbal barbs backstage, as they didn't settle who is better between them since Corbin interrupted that match.
- WWE Tag Team Championship Scene — War Raiders defeated Fraxiom by pinfall. Notable to mention, Damian Priest and CM Punk had a backstage bit where they talked about going for each other's titles.
- Danhausen has a secret weapon for his match tomorrow night against JD McDonagh: a stuffed animal cat that he had in a bird cage.
