WWE SMACKDOWN Results: March 6, 2026 - WWE Champion Drew McIntyre vs. Cody Rhodes & More

Tonight's episode of WWE SmackDown (March 6, 2026) emanates out of the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon and will air at 8 p.m. ET on the USA Network.

Preview & Predictions for WWE SmackDown:

On tap for tonight's episode, the big match and draw for the show is Drew McIntyre defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against the man he beat to win the title in the first place, Cody Rhodes. This came about from SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis rescinding the previous stipulation that had been set up in the Three Stages of Hell match, in that Cody wouldn't be able to get his automatic rematch. Since McIntyre continued to cost Rhodes opportunities, Aldis booked this match, which will dictate who faces Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42 with this belt on the line. I fully expect The American Nightmare to regain the title and to face his mentor, rather than The Viper to be up against The Scottish Warrior.

There will also be a celebration for The Irresistible Forces for how they won the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship, as well as new #1 contenders settled for who fights the MFTs next. I expect Lash Legend and Nia Jax to be confronted by some tag teams (namely Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair, but possibly others like Bayley and Lyra Valkyria, The Kabuki Warriors, etc) to help set up a multi-team match for WrestleMania, and since no teams have been announced yet for the men's tag team title shot, that's up in the air and anyone's game.

• Randy Orton opened the show with a promo about winning Elimination Chamber and heading to WrestleMania to main event. Trick Williams interrupted and ate an RKO for his efforts.
• Open Challenge for the WWE Men's United States Championship: Carmelo Hayes (c) retained over El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. by pinfall.
• Backstage, Ilja Dragunov was interviewed by Cathy Kelley to talk about why he isn't accepting the challenge from Carmelo Hayes, which led to The Miz and Kit Wilson both interrupting to seemingly set up a match for later where Miz is volunteering Wilson to fight Dragunov.
• Apparently, Damian Priest and R-Truth will be a duo in the tag team turmoil match for later, as informed by Nick Aldis, who then had to listen to Drew McIntyre complain about the title match.
• The Irresistible Forces (Lash Legend and Nia Jax) were in the ring to celebrate winning the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship titles on last week's show. Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair came out, followed by Kiana James and Giulia. Those two teams bickered over who could fight for the title next. Aldis then came out to make the match official.
• Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair defeated Giulia and Kiana James by pinfall. It is unclear when they will have their title shot.
• Sami Zayn wanted to wish Cody Rhodes good luck, but basically turned it into another segment of him whining about how things work out for Rhodes while he can't seem to win a world title. Later, Zayn asked Randy Orton how he had it in him to RKO Rhodes and beat him at Elimination Chamber. Isn't he worried that that makes him a bad person? Orton said what he was sure about is that it made him a 14 time world champion, and advised Zayn to start listening to the voices. Aleister Black and Zelina then approached Sami to say that "it's just the nature of the beast."
• WWE Tag Team Championship No. 1 Contenders' Tag Team Turmoil Match: Fraxiom beat The Motor City Machine Guns. Los Garza beat Fraxiom. Los Garza beat The Wyatt Sicks. Damian Priest and R-Truth defeated Los Garza. It was not announced when they would get their title shot against the MFTs, but later, due to more involvement with The Wyatt Sicks, Bo Dallas issued a warning that they're coming to get that lantern back.
• Rhea Ripley and Jade Cargill had an in-ring promo to talk some trash in a generic sense, with no physicality.
• Chris Sabin was annoyed that Alex Shelley was talking to Candice LeRae, who was still concerned about how depressed Johnny Gargano has been. Gargano was inspired to get up and head out to the ring to talk about how he needs to be "Johnny Wrestling" again, issuing an open challenge to anyone in the locker room. Oba Femi then squashed Johnny Gargano.
• Michin and B-Fab had another backstage run-in with Jade Cargill, who will face Michin next week.
• Danhausen told Nick Aldis that he had some demands of the aforementioned Hall of Fame induction, as well as a mentor who will take him to the top. Down the hall was The Miz, so Aldis pawned Danhausen off onto him, as The Miz keeps saying he's the locker room leader and so on. Danhausen then told The Miz that if he doesn't make him a WWE champion of sorts and get Danhausen a television show of his own, he's going to curse him.
• Singles Match for the Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes defeated Drew McIntyre (c) by pinfall to win back the title with a little help from Jacob Fatu, who prevented McIntyre from using a steel chair in the match.
