Last week, Women's World Champion Noami was pulled from her match with Iyo Sky. It also became apparent that her planned bout with Stephanie Vaquer at Clash in Paris wouldn't be happening. However, no one knew why.
Yesterday evening's RAW saw Naomi vacate the title, announcing that she's pregnant with her and Jimmy Uso's first child. A bonus episode of What's Your Story? With Steph McMahon has since been released, revealing more about their journey to becoming parents.
"I found out Sunday [August 10] on the road," Naomi shared. "In my hotel room. I had been feeling a little different, a little weird. I wanted to take a test to make sure and rule that out. Not thinking because it’s been a long journey with fertility issues that I’ve had. I really didn’t think it was possible."
"Earlier in our relationship, before I debuted as a Funkadactyl, I had an oophorectomy, which is the removal of my right ovary," she said of her past medical issues. "In 2020, we went through another major surgery, which is a myomectomy, the removal of fibroids. I had tons, and big ones."
Naomi underwent a lengthy surgery that year, which ended up being more complicated and severe than expected. As a result, she and Jimmy had concluded that having a baby was off the table for them. "On top of being 37 and only having one ovary, we thought that, naturally, I couldn’t any more," she explained.
"I found out Sunday, called him, had to go to work," Naomi said of learning the news while being pushed as Women's World Champion. "Stressed about having to tell work because of where I am right now as the champion. Of all times."
However, as Jimmy explained, they didn't proceed with caution because this wasn't expected to happen for them. "There was no reason to proceed because we had been informed," he noted. "There is no way to know 100% for sure, but we had been advised that [we would need help]."
"She isn’t going to say this, but she felt like she let all her fans down. She felt like there is a step back because she is cooking. Timing is everything. I want to let her fans know; she loves them and she thought about them right off the bat. Thought about WWE right off the bat because it’s a step away now," the former Tag Team Champion concluded.
