WWE: Unreal Season 2 arrived on Netflix today and largely revolves around the road to last year's SummerSlam. At one point, we see a whiteboard showing the company's scrapped plans for the PLE, revealing what might have been for that show and beyond.
We see that the "King of the Ring" and "Queen of the Ring" tournaments were once scheduled to end at Night of Champions, with Cody Rhodes squaring off with Rusev in the men's final, and Rhea Ripley set to battle Giulia in the women's final (in the end, we got Rhodes vs. Randy Orton and Jade Cargill vs. Asuka).
WWE considered a Bella Twins reunion, while Roman Reigns vs. Bron Breakker, the "Demon" Finn Bálor vs. Dominik Mysterio, and Sami Zayn vs. Seth Rollins were also on the table at one stage.
Balor vs. Mysterio is interesting, especially as there were hints last year about The Judgement Day imploding before the storyline was largely dropped. We can even see that Survivor Series: WarGames was once going to be headlined by Seth Rollins, Bronson Reed, Bron Breakker, Solo Sikoa, and JC Mateo vs. Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn, Jacob Fatu, and more.
