While it is far from a surprise, as this could be seen from a mile away even months ago, we now have a Women's Intercontinental Championship match scheduled for WWE WrestleMania 42 with AJ Lee set to defend her title against Becky Lynch.
In case you missed it, AJ Lee returned to action at Wrestlepalooza, teaming alongside her husband CM Punk against Becky Lynch and her husband, Seth Rollins. Lee was victorious, and has since had the number for Lynch on many occasions, costing her the Women's Intercontinental Championship against Maxxine Dupri (who Lynch would regain the title from), beating her in the women's WarGames match at Survivor Series last November, and winning the Women's Intercontinental Championship from Lynch at last month's Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.
Lynch was missing in action for a few weeks, leaving some room for Bayley to step in to win a gauntlet and earn a title shot against AJ Lee. However, after Lee retained over Bayley, Lynch would come back and attack her, reigniting their feud.
This week on Raw, Lynch went out to the ring to complain more about her obsession over Lee and how she's the better of the two (and it isn't just her saying it, by the way), telling a story about how her daughter has started to skip and listen to Lee's theme. Lee, looking for some revenge, ran out to go after Lynch, who bolted out of the ring and ran into the crowd to retreat.
Lee said that she knew what Lynch was after and was more than willing to give her the title rematch at WrestleMania, where she's hoping to end things between them.
It was not confirmed what night this will be on between WrestleMania Saturday (April 18) and WrestleMania Sunday (April 19), as no matches have been officially assigned a date, but here is the current full weekend lineup:
- Singles Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship: CM Punk (c) vs. Roman Reigns
