On December 14, 2023, WWE Superstar Liv Morgan was arrested and charged with possession of synthetic cannabinoids and possession of cannabis.
The case was ultimately dropped, but it received mainstream media attention at the time. There were also concerns that it could lead to the former Women's World Champion being fired by WWE (wrestlers have been released for less over the years). Still, it's a new era, and we've heard that WWE is no longer all that concerned about cannabis, given how many states it's legal in.
The Judgement Day member recently appeared on Stephanie McMahon's What Your Story? podcast, revealing that things took a bizarre turn once the police officers who arrested her realised that she was a WWE Superstar.
"I would never be like, 'I’m Liv Morgan, I’m from WWE.' That’s not my style," Morgan explained. "He looks in my car and finds all my WWE shit, and the complete vibe changes. Now, they’re, like, apologising to me. Now, it’s too far in the process where they have to arrest me."
"What the body camera didn’t pick up is three cop cars pull up as I’m in the backseat, and I’m doing a meet and greet," she continued. "I’m like handcuffed, and they’re like, 'Liv! Is work going to be mad?' 'Yeah! Yeah, they are.' They’re taking photos."
While it may all sound like fun and games, Morgan admitted that during the search of her vehicle, officers found her personal journal and started reading aloud from it. Bodycam footage showed them discussing Morgan's life goals and personal entries, questioning whether it was Morgan's "client list," due to her having cash in the car. Their conduct was widely criticised.
Still, WWE supported Morgan, and the incident did nothing to derail her push. Helping matters was the fact that Morgan was injured at the time and was not being used on WWE TV. As a result, there was time for the whole thing to blow over.
Morgan's mugshot ultimately went viral and increased her popularity in WWE. After recently returning from injury, Morgan appears to be on the cusp of a babyface turn heading into this year's WrestleMania season.
