WWE Superstar Xavier Woods has shared a new video on social media, claiming he suffered a serious neck injury during this past Monday's episode of RAW. While his comments are presented in character, it sounds like this could be a legitimate injury for The New Day member.
"This past Monday, I suffered a debilitating injury due to the irresponsibility of one Adam Pearce, a manoeuvre called the piledriver," Woods said of Penta's iconic Mexican Destroyer. "This front flip 720 Piledriver adds an incredible amount of velocity and force to the impact and drastically increases the chance for a serious neck injury."
"Adam Pierce sent his masked mercenary to attempt to shatter every bone in my neck, all because he doesn’t want to give The New Day our well-deserved rematch for the Tag Team Championship," he continued, claiming The New Day has been a victim of "double standards for the entirety of our WWE careers."
Woods added, "Randy Orton was assaulted with a piledriver, and he was cared for. Cody Rhodes was assaulted with a piledriver, and he was cared for. I was assaulted with a pile driver. Where was my care? Where was my Jason Jordan, where was my Shane Helms? Where was my Jamie Noble? Where was my general manager?"
This might seem like typical New Day hijinks since their heel turn, but Fightful Select is reporting that the former King of the Ring could have a legitimate neck injury that's now being worked into a storyline.
Woods has reportedly been spotted wearing a neck brace off camera, including at restaurants after the show. That's not the norm, particularly in a world where kayfabe is well and truly dead thanks to shows like WWE Unreal on Netflix.
The New Day member ended the video promo by saying, "Kofi is going to avenge me by beating Penta so bad that he won’t be able to damage the neck or well-being of anyone else on the roster."
Only time will tell whether this is a real injury, but if not, this comes at a bad time for the faction, as WWE appears to be doing something with Woods and Kofi Kingston's alliance with Grayson Waller.
