Preview & Predictions for AEW Dynamite:
On tap for tonight's episode, we're going to be seeing the fallout from this past Sunday's pay-per-view, AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door. A lot went down there (full results here) that will need to be transitioned to the next phase of the story. Brodido captured the AEW World Tag Team Championship titles from The Hurt Syndicate, who were attacked by Ricochet and GOA. Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay appear to have been written off television with injury angles. Mark Briscoe is still coming after MJF, who still has his contract he can execute with one week of an advanced notice. The Don Callis Family has a new member in Wardlow, who returned to beat down Prince Nana after Kazuchika Okada retained the AEW Unified Championship. Jamie Hayter also made her return and helped fight off The Triangle of Madness.
All of those things, along with just setting up new challengers for all of the championships (like Kyle Fletcher's TNT title and Mercedes Mone's TBS Championship, or "Timeless" Toni Storm's AEW Women's World Championship after retaining over Athena) are going to eat up some time, and there will inevitably just be some matches thrown together.
Advertised for tonight so far are Darby Allin against Claudio Castagnoli in a Falls Count Anywhere match (which is sure to involve lots of interference from The Death Riders and Allin's allies), Jon Moxley against Daniel Garcia (not set up in the slightest bit) and MegaBad against Kris Statlander and Harley Cameron to play off their continued issues with each other and continue that story to what feels like an inevitable Blood & Guts match for the women's division.
Given AEW's track record for doing this, and since it is in the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, it would be surprising if there wasn't some sort of reference to ECW at some point in the night, whether that's a legend like Rob Van Dam appearing for the show or something else.
Here are your results for AEW Dynamite - August 27, 2025:
- Promo: FTR and Stokely Hathaway complained about the referee accidentally allowing the illegal man to score the pinfall on Dax Harwood at Forbidden Door. Adam Copeland and Christian Cage came out and we've got a match set for All Out in Toronto.
- Darby Allin issued another challenge for Jon Moxley to fight him at All Out, writing that out in blood from his punctured ear.
- Jon Moxley defeated Daniel Garcia by pinfall. After the match, Wheeler Yuta turned down the challenge on behalf of Moxley. Hook then came out and went after Yuta.
- MJF was seething over his loss at Forbidden Door and the new rules that he cannot execute the Casino Gauntlet contract whenever he chooses, but must give a week's worth of notice. When he does that, after he takes care of Mark Briscoe, MJF is going to take "Hangman" Adam Page's soul.
- Harley Cameron and Kris Statlander defeated MegaBad (Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford) by submission. The fight continued after the match until Willow Nightingale came into the ring. They didn't hug it out like the crowd wanted, but took one step closer to reconciliation.
- "Nine Belts" Mercedes Mone had a championship celebration in the ring with all her titles and Renee Paquette. All she basically said was that she's a better wrestler than Alex Windsor.
- Mark Briscoe said that he's not in Philly tonight because of a new addition to the family (presenting baby Mac Briscoe) and he's challenged Kyle Fletcher to a TNT title match.
- All Star 8-Man Tag Team Match: The Don Callis Family (Kazuchika Okada, Hechicero, Konosuke Takeshita & Josh Alexander) defeated Brodido (Brody King & Bandido) and JetSpeed ("The Jet" Kevin Knight & "Speedball" Mike Bailey) by pinfall.
- Promo: "Hangman" Adam Page thanked Will Ospreay for what he's done as of late and says he wants to fight him for the title when Ospreay is back. Page talked about MJF, promising to retain the title whenever the contract is executed. Don Callis interrupted, saying it's only a matter of time before someone in his faction wins the title. This starts a fight where Page is backed up by Kenny Omega and JetSpeed, with the babyfaces standing tall.
- AEW World Trios Championship Match: The Opps (Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs and Katsuyori Shibata) retained over Ricochet and GOA (Toa Liona & Bishop Kaun) by submission.
- Falls Count Anywhere Match: Darby Allin defeated Claudio Castagnoli by pinfall. Gabe Kidd and Jon Moxley attacked Allin after the match, but Allin was able to get away with Kidd chasing after him.
