AEW RAMPAGE: Watch CM Punk's Deafening Return In Chicago To "Cult Of Personality"

It really happened.

After weeks of rumours and speculation, CM Punk stepped back into a wrestling ring for the first time since 2014, but this time, he's All Elite. In what felt like a real turning point for AEW, the Best in the World kicked of AEW Rampage and, as we noted a little earlier, challenged Darby Allin to a match at All Out next month.

That promises to be amazing, but Punk's entrance...well, we're confident you won't have seen a crowd as excited as this for a very long time. Chicago's United Center exploded the second his music hit, and the chants of "CM Punk" (which have plagued WWE shows much to their chagrin since 2014) were deafening.

A clearly emotional Punk embraced fans and took his time making his way to the ring, soaking in the atmosphere and clearly appreciative of the love he received from his hometown crowd.

While the promo that following wasn't exactly a "Pipe Bomb," it's fair to say that the former WWE Superstar still knows how to connect with a crowd. Now, with that company long behind him, Punk made it clear he's ready to return to the world of pro wrestling he left when he walked out of Ring of Honor in 2005.
