MJF Reportedly Unhappy With AEW Contract As All Signs Point To Him Signing With WWE In 2024

Earlier this year, we heard that MJF and AEW President Tony Khan had a heated discussion backstage about his repeated comments in interviews about his contract status and potentially signing with WWE (the main issue, however, was MJF doing a big interview without getting the green light from AEW PR).

Now, Fightful Select is reporting that while Khan has appeared to move on from their difference of opinion, MJF is unhappy with his current contract and the amount of money he's making. As one of AEW's biggest draws, it doesn't sound as if he's being paid what he feels he's owed, and it seems his clash with the AEW President has soured him on the company and highlighted some issues for him.

Sean Ross Sapp notes that MJF has seriously considered heading to WWE when his contract expires in 2024, especially now his relationship with Khan has been damaged somewhat. "MJF is said to be leaning towards leaving AEW as of now when his deal is up," he explains, suggesting that the popular heel is interested in following Cody Rhodes by signing with WWE down the line.

In the interview below, MJF once again talks about what he could bring to the table in WWE and said this when asked about possible squaring off with Roman Reigns should he sign with them in 2024. "I would imagine. I think me and him would have a tremendous match. I think it would be a friendly competition. I would also love to wrestle Seth Rollins. I would love to wrestle The Miz."

You mean the interview where MJF is 100% in character, like he always is?

Come on now. Its called negotiating. He's putting it out there that he could go to WWE. He's said in multiple interviews that he will go where the money is and that he has no desire to wrestle in one company over another. He will go to the highest bidder.

But again, this is all in character. His character is that he is a giant asshole. And nothing gets more heat than saying you have no loyalty to your brand when that brand is full of AEW fans that get pissed off about anything WWE related.

And by doing this, he makes it clear that when 2024 rolls around, he expects a lot more money. That's about the only thing you can really take from any of this.

But I'm sure MJF knows that he won't be able to do what he does best if he goes to WWE. He'll be heavily scripted and likely kept on the mid-card, simply because he isn't very big.
