Since NWA has been forced to cancel television tapings back in March, the promotion has been releasing past pay-per-views to fill the void of fans looking to watch some National Wrestling Alliance content.
Unfortunately, one of the scrapped events happened to be the 2020 Crockett Cup on April 19th, which would’ve seen former NWA World Tag Team Champions The Wildcards (Royce Isaacs & Thomas Latimer), Rock N Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson), Villain Enterprises (Brody King & Flip Gordon), and Rey Horus and Flamita compete in the one-night tournament.
The main event would’ve been Marty “The Villain” Scurll challenging the longest reigning NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis. The battle between the former friends has been a year in the making as the former ROH World Television Champion fought Aldis at the 2019 pay-per-view; however, Scurll came up short in his quest to become the new world champion.
NWA has uploaded a video showcasing the entire backstory between the rivals and the qualifying match between The Briscoes and Willie Mack & Jeff Cobb. The promotion plans on showcasing the entire 2019 Crockett Cup show on Sunday at 7pm Eastern Time on YouTube.com/NWA & Facebook.com/NWA.
