Tonight's episode of WWE NXT ended prematurely if you were watching on the CW Network, as the station once again cut WWE off during a segment. However, the bulk of what went down was already finished, and while it might have come across to some as just a quick brawl, there were two big announcements and allusions worth dissecting.
For those who didn't see it, Roxanne Perez was out in the ring cutting a promo about how she lost the NXT Women's Championship last week at New Year's Evil to Giulia. She claimed that all the buzz and hype over NXT having the best women's division in the wrestling business was entirely because she was sitting at the top of the food chain as champion, and now that she no longer holds that title, the roster is going to suffer.
But that's what everyone deserves, according to her. The fans and NXT as a whole do not deserve to have The Prodigy around. As such, this is a tease that Perez is moving on from the NXT roster and will be drafted in some fashion to either the Raw or SmackDown rosters going forward.
While not official yet in any capacity, WWE doesn't have Superstars cut these types of promos for no reason, particularly when Perez has already had two title reigns and done basically everything she can do as part of the developmental brand. This is especially good timing considering the "transfer window" going on right now, which is allowing WWE Superstars to move between the three rosters (a la Nia Jax moving to Raw and The Wyatt Sicks being traded to SmackDown)
It seems she already has her first feud lined up as well, as Bayley interrupted this promo to try to give Perez some advice about how she could use this loss to motivate her going forward, only for Perez to reject everything Bayley was saying. Perez's ego has her saying she could even be Bayley's role model now after all she's accomplished and all the records she's broken that people like Bayley and the Four Horsewomen previously set.
Bayley's response was to say that Perez won't learn and will be stuck in NXT, while she herself will be going on to win the Royal Rumble and will take back the WWE Women's Championship from Tiffany Stratton, which in turn means Bayley has declared herself as the second participant for the lineup of the 2025 Women's Royal Rumble match, joining Nia Jax.
With all this in mind, we can likely expect to see Roxanne Perez take part in the Royal Rumble, too, but that has not yet been confirmed.
