History has been made on the Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania 41—both good and bad—as new tag team champions have been crowned in the women's division.
Last night at WWE WrestleMania 41, Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez walked into the event with the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship titles and were set to face Lyra Valkyria and a mystery partner, as her original partner, Bayley, had been attacked.
In a surprise return, Valkyria was backed up by Becky Lynch, and the two of them managed to dethrone the champions and walk out with the titles.
Their time as champions wasn't fated to last long at all, it seems, as the opening match of tonight's episode of Monday Night Raw was Morgan and Rodriguez getting a rematch for the tag titles, which they actually managed to win back.
Valkyria took the pin from Morgan (following an Oblivion, her finisher) and just like that, Morgan and Rodriguez are now four-time champions—one-upping their previous record, as no other team has won the titles even three times.
Equally as important, though, is what happened after the match, where Lynch was helping Valkyria up from the mat and decided to attack her, turning on her friend and partner and becoming a villain again.
Lynch has not addressed the heel turn yet as of this publication, but it most likely will stem from a combination of frustration over Lyra losing the titles, along with some of their history that has been swept under the rug recently in favor of talking about their friendship.
That is because while they've worked together and their partnership makes sense, they also have a history with each other as opponents. Back at NXT Halloween Havoc 2023, Valkyria defeated Lynch to win the NXT Women's Championship. This could very well end up being a story where Lynch hasn't forgotten about that and plans to go after Valkyria's other title, the Women's Intercontinental Championship, as that is a new title she's yet to hold.
Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez will be defending the women's tag titles tomorrow night on NXT against Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley, who won a Fatal 4-Way Elimination Match during the pre-show of WWE Stand & Deliver this past Saturday.
