Both of Raw's Intercontinental Championships now have matches on the books for the next time their champions will defend the titles—one going down next week and the other taking place at the next premium live event.
On tonight's episode of Monday Night Raw, there was an in-ring promo segment between Becky Lynch and Bayley, as the two addressed The Man's attack on The Role Model that took her out of WrestleMania 41, resulting in Lynch teaming with Lyra Valkyria instead to win the Women's Tag Team Championships for one just one night.
After going back and forth about which one is better and general trash talk, Bayley put out a challenge for a match, which Lynch was quick to say wouldn't happen tonight. Instead, she'd see Bayley next week in Columbus, referring to how Monday Night Raw will be in Ohio's Nationwide Arena.
Following a commercial break, Bayley was backstage talking to SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, who was filling in tonight for Raw General Manager Adam Pearce. Aldis informed Bayley that her match with Lynch next week would also be for the Women's Intercontinental Championship, as he felt it only made sense Bayley got a title match after Lynch had cost her her originally scheduled tag title match at WrestleMania.
Lyra Valkyria overheard all of this and approached Bayley with some confusion over how Bayley hadn't sent her any messages about her return last week. Bayley apologized and said that she's just looking to do what's best for herself. Valkyria was upset over that, too, and put Bayley on notice that if she does happen to win the Women's Intercontinental Championship from Becky next week, then Lyra's also going to do what's best for herself as well to try to get it back.
Also in that backstage segment was Nick Aldis talking to AJ Styles, who had just beaten JD McDonagh. After weeks of Dominik Mysterio trying to get his Judgment Day brethren to "take care" of The Phenomenal One so he wouldn't pose a threat, Dirty Dom is going to have to put the Intercontinental Championship on the line against Styles at WWE Night of Champions, coming up on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
