Tonight on the June 20, 2025 episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown, John Cena was in action against Ron Killings in a non-title match which ended in a disqualification victory for R-Truth when Cena did what he's been doing a lot as of late, which was to utilize the Undisputed WWE Championship title belt as a weapon.
After that, CM Punk came out to fight with Cena, ultimately coming up short in the scrap and being laid out with an Attitude Adjustment through one of the now Slim Jim branded tables from under the ring.
As Punk laid there, Cena climbed up to the turnbuckle and cut a promo, referencing their feud from 14 years ago, complete with Cena's version of Punk's legendary "pipe bomb" promo.
Here, Cena stated, among other things, that he doesn't dislike Punk. In fact, he likes him better than anyone Punk's shared a locker room with. But Punk isn't the Best in the World, but he's better than Cena at one thing: being the best bullsh*tter in the world.
Cena then laughed at the idea that he had "said a bad word" and directed Stu (the cameraman he always interacts with) to get a good shot of him "breaking the fourth wall", and while Punk's pipebomb had featured a moment where he shouted out Colt Cabana (who was not in WWE at the time), Punk shouted out Claudio Castagnoli from AEW (formerly Cesaro), Nic Nemeth from TNA (formerly Dolph Ziggler), and Matt Cardona (formerly Zack Ryder).
Cena called Punk "promo potato salad", said that he's Mr. TKO rather than against TKO, and that he's a capitalist millionaire, not The Voice of the Voiceless anymore.
Punk was called out for changing his values as much as Cena changes his t-shirt design, and Cena made a point to say Punk's tweets are strong, but his actions are weak, and that at Night of Champions, he'll prove that he's the greatest of all time.
Cena ended the promo tossing out a very PG "motherfudging" and thanked Punk for letting him steal his promo, before blowing a kiss to the camera, mirroring what Punk did when he won the WWE Championship and ran off with the title in 2011.
