Keith Lee Says That He's Doing "Quite Fine" And His Return Is Out Of His Hands

The former AEW World Tag Team Champion has been out of action for nearly two years due to an undisclosed injury. However, according to Keith Lee, he's doing quite fine and his return is out of his hands.

Is Keith Lee being benched by Tony Khan?

The last time the former AEW World Tag Team Champion wrestled in AEW was on December 23, 2023. Keith Lee was originally supposed to face Swerve Strickland at the World’s End pay-per-view, but he was pulled from the show due to health reasons.

Now Lee has stated that he had to undergo “double surgeries”, though he remains quiet about what specifically. The past two years have been quite strange regarding the circumstances surrounding the AEW star.

No one knows what’s going on with Keith Lee and there’s been a great concern that his health has been on a major decline since he's been on the shelf. The last time Tony Khan even spoke about the 40-year-old was at the 2023 World’s End media scrum and talked about how his injury had worsened throughout the week, which forced Lee off the card.

But recently, Keith Lee has given a little more information about his status and he’s stated that he’s fine. Lee has still kept quiet about what has kept him out of action for so long, but he seems in good spirits these days.

But the most interesting part of his statement indicates that Lee has been ready to go for quite some time.

It’s not clear if Lee has been medically cleared, though he outright stated that his return isn’t up to him. That indicates he’s simply wanting on the call from Tony Khan. As of this writing, there’s no word on what’s going on with Keith Lee and if he’s been medically cleared to compete.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if Tony had nothing for the AEW star. Just recently, Scorpio Sky and Danhausen discussed the frustrations of being on the sidelines as waiting for creative to come up with something for them. It would be a shame if Keith Lee is indeed ready to go and the boss had nothing for the former NXT Champion. Of course, we don’t know the full story yet so it's hard to judge what exactly is going on.
