Last night's SmackDown opened with General Manager Nick Aldis giving Kevin Owens an ultimatum: return the stolen Winged Eagle WWE Championship or be banned from WWE.
The Prizefighter argued that he's the rightful WWE Champion (after the referee was unable to count the 1-2-3 for him at Saturday Night's Main Event) but was soon interrupted by a returning Cody Rhodes.
The American Nightmare proposed that both titles be hung above the ring in a Ladder Match at the upcoming Royal Rumble PLE next February.
KO agreed and SmackDown went off the air with him once again brutally attacking the babyface's injured neck - caused by a Piledriver - after shoving Aldis into his foe.
Making this a Ladder Match is an incredibly intriguing move on WWE's part; it also means that Owens could win the Undisputed WWE Championship without pinning Rhodes, keeping him strong heading into WrestleMania even if he no longer holds the title.
A recent rumour claimed to reveal plans for Rhodes at the Show of Shows.
If Rhodes beats KO again, though, that's going to damage his credibility in a big way as it would end their series at 3-0. However, Cody has rarely been beaten since returning to WWE so him emerging from this feud as the divisive winner tracks.
