Chris Jericho's fall from the top of the cage during the "Blood and Guts" edition of Dynamite has come under fire due to how poorly disguised the crash pad he landed on was. Despite that botch, there's no denying that it was an impressive stunt, and one it seems Le Champion is paying the price for.
While it was previously reported that no one involved in the match had suffered more than minor cuts and bruises, Wrestling Observer Radio's Bryan Alvarez has now shared a significant update.
Apparently, Jericho suffered a legitimate elbow injury (during this week's episode of Dynamite he was shown with his left elbow taped up and secured in a brace). It's possible he actually fractured it, though there's no word on whether he'll need surgery or miss any in-ring time. That doesn't seem likely, though, especially as he's booked for Double or Nothing's "Stadium Stampede" match.
That takes place on May 30th and will see The Inner Circle face The Pinnacle. However, if the former lose, then they'll be forced to disband in AEW forever.
Despite criticisms about Jericho's fall, this just goes to show that despite the crash bad and cardboard boxes being visible (which is down to poor production on AEW's part), the fall was a serious one and not something that should be written off as not being incredibly dangerous.
We'll keep you updated, but wish Jericho a speedy recovery if he is, in fact, injured.
