This week's episode of NXT aired on Tuesday night after the USA Network decided to move the show from Wednesdays in order to make room for hockey. Now, it's no longer going head-to-head with All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite, bringing the "Wednesday Night War" to an end in the process.
During a recent interview with Forbes, former WWE and AEW Champion Chris Jericho was asked for his thoughts on NXT moving from that Wednesday timeslot, and he didn't hold back!
"The reason why we won it and won it so handily is we never worried about what anybody else was doing," Le Champion explained. "We just worried about our own show. Of course, we’re competitive. Yes, we wanted to beat NXT. We wanted to drive them screaming and yelling away from Wednesdays and we did that."
That's up for debate, of course, especially as it's been reported by multiple outlets that the decision to move NXT had nothing to do with that ratings "war" and more about the aforementioned NHL games. Regardless, fans are keeping a close eye on the ratings this week to see if both shows benefit.
We do know that NXT drew 805,000 viewers on Tuesday night, an increase from the previous Wednesday's 768,000. Ultimately, it doesn't appear that there's much crossover between those who watch NXT and Dynamite, and both shows are clearly drawing very different audiences.
Those Dynamite numbers will be interesting later today, though...
