Powerhouse Hobbs Possibly Pulled From Maximum Carnage Collision?, Matches Set For Future Episodes

A bloody Jon Moxley retained the AEW World Championship on Dynamite over Will Hobbs, who might no longer be scheduled for the advertised 12-man tag team match set to go down on Collision.

Jon Moxley still sits atop the AEW mountain, having successfully defended his AEW World Championship against Powerhouse Hobbs in a vicious main event on AEW Dynamite: Maximum Carnage. If you want to know the full results of tonight's episode, click here.

This match came about after Hobbs won the Men's Casino Gauntlet match last week, defeating "Switchblade" Jay White, "Hangman" Adam Page, Wheeler Yuta, Ricochet, Adam Cole, Daniel Garcia, Roderick Strong, Lance Archer, Kyle O’Reilly, and “The Last Outlaw” Jeff Jarrett.

Hobbs was a game challenger in this title match, to the point where he even bit Moxley's ear, causing him to bleed profusely for the rest of the bout. Despite the champion looking worse for wear, he still managed to have his hand raised after hitting Hobbs with a Paradigm Shift followed by a bulldog chokehold which caused Hobbs to pass out, forcing the referee to stop the match and award it to Mox.

In typical fashion, The Death Riders continued to beat down on Hobbs after the match, Pillmanizing him by putting his surgically repaired leg in a steel chair and stomping away. Not quick enough to stop that from happening Rated FTR (Cope, Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) tried to run out to make the save, but only managed to get Moxley, Marina Shafir, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta and PAC to run off after the damage had been done.

Hobbs had been advertised to be part of a 12-man tag team match on this week's episode of Collision (the other half of Maximum Carnage), where he was supposed to team with Cope, Harwood, Wheeler, and The Outrunners (Turbo Floyd and Truth Magnum—which, if Cope and FTR is Rated FTR, and FTR combined with The Outrunners is FTRunners, does that make this team Rated FTRunners with Hobbs?) against three members of Death Riders and The Learning Tree.

So far, AEW has not announced that he's pulled from the match, but since it takes place tomorrow night in an advanced taping (and will air this Saturday), it's likely he will be replaced by someone else.

In the meantime, here is the lineup of matches currently announced for tomorrow night's taping of AEW Collision Maximum Carnage, as well as next week's AEW Dynamite and, oddly, a match set up for three weeks from tonight:

AEW Collision Maximum Carnage Lineup:

  • 12-Man Tag Team Match: Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, & Wheeler Yuta) and The Learning Tree (Chris Jericho, Big Bill, & Bryan Keith) vs. Rated FTR (Cope, Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler), The Outrunners (Turbo Floyd & Turth Magnum) and Powerhouse Hobbs
