Abadon and Nick Comoroto are set to be done with AEW.
We’re only three months into 2025 and Tony Khan has released Miro, Malakai Black, Ricky Starks, Maria (her contract expired), Leyla Hirsch (left the company), Zak Knight and Rey Fenix. Abadon and Nick Comoroto will join them very soon.
According to the Wrestling Observer, the contracts of Abadon and Nick Comoroto are coming up and they will not re-sign with the company. Like Knight, there’s no indication on whether Abadon and Comoroto opted to not re-sign or if Tony Khan had no interest in renewing their contracts.
Abadon originally made her AEW debut in 2020 against Hikaru Shida and instantly grabbed fans attention thanks to her unique look. Abadon has challenged Shida twice for the AEW Women’s World title, but she came up short both times. Other than that, she’s had a crack at TBS title in 2023, but it generally seemed as if Tony Khan didn’t particularly know how to use the 32-year-old on a regular basis.
There was a long period where she simply disappeared from television; Abadon would return to Ring of Honor and she was one of the competitors in the ROH Women’s World TV Television tournament. After that, Abadon floundered in the mid-card. While she would win squash matches here and there, the AEW star was essentially enhancement talent to bigger names. Abadon has made an appearance in ROH this past month, but it will surely be her final one.
As for Nick Comoroto, he comes from the Nightmare factory and he made his debut in 2020 as well. He was a member of the Nightmare Family/The Factory stable in 2021/2022, but those factions didn’t lead him to a higher spot on the card.
Comoroto soon reverted to AEW Elevation and Dark, where he was treated as enhancement talent. Once Dark and Elevation disappeared, he transitioned over to Ring of Honor, where he resumed the same role as before. The last time Comoroto competed in ROH was in August 2024.
AEW has over 130 wrestlers on their roster. With Dark and Elevation gone, the company just doesn’t have enough television time to feature all these names on Dynamite, Collision, or Ring of Honor. It’s not surprising that Tony is getting rid of talents he doesn’t use much on the roster. There’s no telling on whether more names are scheduled to be released, but it wouldn’t be a surprise as AEW still has too many talents under contract.
