John Cena makes sporadic appearances for WWE these days, but it's clear now that a Hollywood career is of greater interest to him. During his feud with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, he took aim at The Great One for deciding to abandon wrestling fans to make movies, but the ironic thing now, of course, is that Cena has done the exact same thing!

Does that make him a hypocrite? Some fans certainly seem to think so, and in an interview with The Sun, Cena shared his regrets for taking things a little too far during their rivalry.

"I said some things that were less than nice, he said some things that were less than nice," the former WWE Champion admitted. "And I can assure you, in our line of work, there is a grey area where imagination becomes very real and we were right in the sweet spot of that grey area, each watching the other’s every move and not too happy with the other party."

"It was stupid of me, it genuinely was," Cena continued. "That was my perspective at the time. For me to not be able to see Dwayne’s vision on what he wanted to do personally, and how his personal success could affect a growing global brand, that was just ignorant on my part."

"I’m very thankful to Dwayne Johnson. His success has gotten me a lot of opportunities that I’m extremely thankful for, and certainly wouldn’t have without him."

It's certainly interesting to hear this change in attitude from Cena, though he doesn't really have any choice given his many Hollywood commitments these days. While he returned for a brief rivalry with Roman Reigns earlier this year, that was the first time we'd seen the Leader of the Cenation in a WWE ring since last year's WrestleMania in the WWE Performance Center.

Do you think WWE needs John Cena?
