We expected All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite to beat NXT but probably not by this much! The show - which aired on TNT - drew 1.409 million viewers compared to NXT's 891,000. Not only was WWE beaten by the newly launched company but its show also fell under the 1 million mark for the first time since it moved to the USA Network.

AEW received 878,000 viewers in the 18 - 49 demographic compared to 414,000 for NXT. This is massively important to advertisers and should make Dynamite a hot commodity.

However, while it's fair to say the premiere was a hit, the most important numbers will be next week when we learn how many fans have decided to stick around. The show was heavy on wrestling but light on the promos and storylines many viewers are used to.

The Wednesday Night Wars have begun but it's far from over...
