Roman Reigns doesn't give too many interviews these days but recently sat down with Jimmy Traina for a nearly hour-long conversation about a wide range of topics.
Discussing what's proven to be an epic, multi-year storyline with The Bloodline, the OTC admitted that it started running on fumes last year before the shift to focusing on two competing versions of the factions freshened things up.
"There was maybe a year ago or so that we were stretching it, but we’re not at this point. It’s a whole new vision," Reigns explained. "I forget where I was driving today but just kind of visualizing what it could be in the next two years, what could be in the next three years. Blocking these things off just a year chunk at a time."
He'd go on to credit Triple H and WWE President Nick Khan's leadership for making the storyline possible, praising them for allowing those involved to have some creative freedom with where it goes.
Looking back at WrestleMania XL, Reigns also admitted that he wasn't too bothered by the backlash surrounding The Rock taking Cody Rhodes' place at the PLE (which ultimately forced WWE to change course in response to the #WeWantCody movement).
"I was the main event no matter what. I’m the guy everyone wanted to dance with. I’m the hot chick, everyone wanted to take me out," he said. "So it was one of those things where we just needed to get there and defend this thing."
Reigns was also asked about the American Nightmare's recent remarks that he and Roman never got to have a moment backstage after their match on the Grandest Stage of Them All. "There’s no need. But if you wanna sit out there and babyface for four hours I ain’t waiting. Especially at that point," the former Undisputed WWE Universal Champion stated.
"What kind of time are we talking about here? We gotta keep moving. I don’t live in Philly, so like I said, there’s some jet fuel to be burnt, and I had to go," Reigns continued. "I think he hit it on the head, I’ll give him that. We know what we did. We were both out there. You can thank each other and all that old stuff, but we put our bodies on the line together, and I think that’s thanks enough."
As for his babyface turn since returning to WWE at SummerSlam, the Head of the Table credited the storyline with making that happen without him ever appearing on television.
"I was very blessed that our storyline was continued and we had such strong characters that we’re keeping everything relevant so there was a build up for me [to return]," he said. "And lo and behold, I became a babyface without doing anything, not even being on screen."
