Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez impressed many with his performance at TripleMania XXVII in August. The 37-year-old has always been a huge wrestling fan and the mma heavyweight specializes in wrestling when it comes to the octagon.
Velasquez is scheduled to wrestle once again this Saturday in New York for AAA and the California native spoke to Ariel Helwani about several topics involving wresting, including being in talks with WWE and a potential match down the line:
"The WWE knew I had an interest in actually joining wrestling, but they knew I was still fighting," Velasquez told Ariel Helwani.
"They didn't offer me a contract, but they always ask me, 'what do you want to do? Do you want to do a one-off and come in every now and then or be in Orlando and training full-time?' I'm definitely willing to do a lot more. I told them, I'm willing to do it 100% and learn as much as I can."
Velasquez is enjoying his time in the squared circle and wants to wrestle as long as he can, which includes wrestling for different companies such as WWE and AEW:
"I definitely want to keep wrestling for [AAA] for however long I can. But I would love to wrestle for other places as well. We've been in talks with [WWE]. [Talks] are going pretty good. I've talked to [AEW]. I've talked to [Cody Rhodes] a little bit. I want to talk to him a little more. I think they're doing great things. [AEW] has a good relationship with Triple A as well."
