Could Joe Hendry become the next ROH Pure Champion?
That’s certainly a possibility as the ROH star is confirmed for the upcoming 16-man tournament that starts on Friday, April 10 in Columbus and Saturday, April 11 in Pittsburgh.
The United Kingdom native is no stranger to being a champion as Hendry competed around the world prior to signing with Ring of Honor in 2019. The 31-year-old previously won the Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship, BWR Heavyweight Championship, PWE Heavyweight Championship, and Defiant Championship.
Despite his impressive accolades, Hendry has yet to win any titles within Ring of Honor. The Scottish wrestler came extremely close to defeating Shane Taylor for the ROH World Television Championship last year; however, Hendry hasn't received a singles title match since then due to being a main staple in ROH’s tag team division.
Joe Hendry joins Yuji Nagata, Fred Yehi, Marty “The Villain” Scurll, Tracy Williams, Slex, Alex Shelley, Mark Haskins, Jonathan Gresham, Doug Williams, and Rocky Romero for a chance to make history and become the first Pure Champion since 2006.
