In the biggest surprise of the weekend, Kota Ibushi has officially lost the G1 Climax briefcase.
Despite being the man to win the G1 Climax for the second year in a row, one of the blemishes of Ibushi’s record stems from his big loss to Jay White. The 38-year-old looked to rectify his loss against the Bullet Club leader on Saturday; however, the cheating antics of Jay White got the better of Ibushi.
Not surprisingly, Gedo helped the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion throughout the match-up, but Ibushi was able to stand his own against both men. However, White managed to get Ibushi in a crucifix pin after countering Ibushi's finisher and used the ropes to hoist himself up, which got him the three count.
The Bullet Club leader became the first man to ever take away the G1 Climax contract from the original winner. It was later confirmed that Jay White will challenge for the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental titles on Night Two of Wrestle Kingdom 15.
