Rich Swann is done with TNA Wrestling.
2025 is the year of releases and TNA has quietly released the former TNA World Champion. Swann was with the company for eight years. In fact, TNA officials had an option to extend his contract for a year, but they decided against it. The news isn’t much of a surprise as Swann’s latest incident (a public intoxication charged that forced him into rehab) seemed to be the final straw with officials.
Swann was instantly pulled from television and his final TNA match was against Mike Bailey for the X-Division championship on August 3, 2024. Prior to being pulled from television, Swann was part of the First Class faction with AJ Francis and KC Navarro. Swann started popping up in October through various indie events, but there was not one word about his potential return to TNA Wrestling.
TNA/Impact Wrestling took a chance on Swann after he was released from WWE following a domestic violence incident.
For the most part, Swann’s name was restored during his run with the promotion. TNA took the time to build up the Baltimore native and Swann winning the Impact World Championship at the 2020 Bound For Glory from Eric Young was well earned. Swann floated around the main event scene for a bit once he dropped the belt to Kenny Omega at Rebellion.
However, his final year was mostly spent in mid-card programs, though he did win the now defunct Digital Media Championship. But that reign only lasted 34 days. While it seemed obvious why TNA opted against re-signing Swann, nothing has been confirmed about the reasoning behind his departure. Swann has yet to comment on his departure from TNA.
These days, he’s mainly working for the Wrestling Revolver. He’s recently had a high profile match against Ricochet at FSW Mecca X: Beynefit For Bey show back in March. He’s also worked for Scott D’Amore’s Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling and Combat Zone Wrestling.
There’s no word on whether AEW or New Japan Wrestling is interested in signing the former Impact World Champion. Anything is possible in regards to WWE, but it’s doubtful that the company is interested in re-signing Swann based on the way things ended. Of course, we’ll keep you updated on the situation should Swann sign a new long term contract with another major promotion. Here’s wishing Swann the best in his future endeavors! He’s a talented performer, hopefully he’s fixed his personal issues.
