Mr. Anderson is back!
The two-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion made his shocking return last night during Frankie Kazarian’s “King’s Speech”. Kazarian actually brought out Mr. Anderson to question him about Steve Maclin.
Mr. Anderson served as a member of the United States Army reserve. So has Steve Maclin. Kazarian tried to get Mr. Anderson to admit that Maclin was a coward but he refused. So Kazarian got frustrated and had Jake Something attack the 49-year-old.
That’s when the International Champion came out and saved Mr. Anderson by getting rid of Something. It’s since been confirmed that Mr. Anderson will wrestle in TNA for the first time in nine years next week as he’ll team with Steve Maclin to take on Jake Something & Frankie Kazarian.
Last night was the first time Mr. Anderson stepped into a TNA ring in nine years. Anderson got his notoriety as Mr. Kennedy in WWE. The former WWE star was in the company from 2005 to 2009, and Kennedy even won the United States Championship.
Mr. Kennedy also won the Money in the Bank Ladder match at WrestleMania 23. He was being primed as a top star, but a ten man tag team match would serve as his final bout in WWE as reportedly, Randy Orton complained about Kennedy dropping him on his head and that resulted in Kennedy being fired.
He made the transition over to TNA the following year and Mr. Anderson competed in TNA for six years. Now there was some controversy surrounding his exit as it’s been rumored that TNA fired him because it was drug related; however, there’s other reports that claim Mr. Anderson and TNA officials couldn’t come to a new deal so Anderson left.
Anderson remained active on the independent scene and he even opened a school in 2016 with Shawn Daivari, Molly Holly, Ariya Daivari, and Arik Cannon. There’s no telling how long this latest return in TNA will last, but it’s good that Mr. Anderson in back on Impact screens.
