Mike Santana gets one last shot at the TNA World Championship.
Mike Santana has been trying to make a name for himself since he stepped out of the shadow of his tag team and AEW in 2023. The New York’s native mission statement was simple when he came to TNA in 2024 - win the TNA World Championship.
He had a couple of opportunities here and there and he didn’t finish the job. However, his singles match against Trick Williams was the closest he’s ever gotten to winning the prestigious belt. Unfortunately, Santana was screwed over thanks to AJ Francis, but his quest for the TNA World Championship intensified.
He got another chance at Slammiversary, but Santana was screwed in his own hometown.
He gets one more chance on October 12th, as the TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella made an official announcement about Trick Williams defending the TNA World Championship against Mike.
This will be Trick’s sixth title defense. Despite his sleazy and underhanded tactics, the 31-year-old has grown since beating Joe Hendry for the belt at Battleground. He’s fought a variety of opponents and Trick’s confidence level is even higher than it was when he was holding the NXT Championship.
But Santana finally gets that one-on-one match that he’s been clamoring for. The TNA World Challenger stated that he promises to bring the title back to TNA, and if Trick tried to hide out in NXT then he’ll go developmental just to drag back to TNA.
We’re just a month away from TNA’s biggest show of the year, Bound for Glory. The main event has just been confirmed.
Also, Indi Hartwell won the opportunity to challenge the TNA Knockouts Champion on October 12th. The champion will be determined at Victory Road on September 26th as Masha Slamovich vs. Ash by Elegance has been made official.
Here’s the advertised Bound For Glory lineup:
- TNA World Tag Team Championships: The Hardys (Matt Hardy & Jeff Hardy) (c) vs. Team 3D (Bully Ray & D-Von Dudley)
- TNA World Championship: Trick Williams (c) vs. Mike Santana
- TNA Knockouts Championship: Ash by Elegance or Masha Slamovich vs. Indi Hartwell
