Xia Brookside made the most out of her incredible opportunity.
The former WWE star briefly made her return to NXT in the Speed Championship tournament. Brookside fought Candace LeRae, who ended up beating Xia within two minutes. The TNA star made her return to the developmental brand for the NXT Women’s Championship battle royal. The 27-year-old did win, but she’s extremely grateful for the opportunity to compete in WWE soil once again.
Brookside expressed her gratitude during her recent interview with Last Word On Sports/3W Wrestling, where she described her experience returning to WWE recently.
“It wasn’t something that I knew was going to happen. It kind of it’s all just happening, and we’re all kind of trying to keep up and go with the flow. To go back and not only go back for NXT Showdown and the Battle Royale, I went back into the Speed Championship match, which was my debut for NXT. So, to go from the May Young Classic, sign with NXT UK for 4 years, move out here by myself, figure out a life, sign with TNA, which has been absolutely incredible to me, and then I now still get to go back to NXT. That’s crazy. It’s such an incredible opportunity.”
As Xia mentioned, she got her opportunity to work for WWE during the 2018 Mae Young Classic. Though she didn’t make it past the first round, WWE opted to sign her to their UK brand. She spent the next four years competing in NXT UK and though that brand was highly regarded as having the best wrestling on weekly WWE television, not many people were watching NXT UK overall.
Brookside competed for the NXT UK Women’s Championship on a couple of occasions, but she was never the focal point of the brand. However, WWE was slowly building her until the company opted to do away with NXT UK in 2022. Brookside was released with numerous UK talents that year.
Xia returned to Stardom in 2022 and officially made the jump to TNA Wrestling in 2024. At the moment, the 27-year-old is currently teaming with Lei Ying Lee and the duo is known as The Angel Warriors. TNA is currently on hiatus for reasons that still remain unknown. However, it’s clear that the company added the team to boost the depth of the knockouts tag team division.
There the current TNA Knockouts Champions Cassie Lee and Jessica McKay (The IInspiration), The Elegance Brand, and The Angel Warriors. TNA needs more teams and hopefully they form a couple of new ones in the coming months.
