AEW's Will Ospreay Shares Disappointment with How Ricochet Is Booked In WWE: "I Want Him [In AEW]"

Will Ospreay and Ricochet both put themselves on the map as high-flying innovators in the ring and often stole the show together on the indie scene in the mid-2010s. However, they haven't shared the ring since 2017.

That's because they each went down very different career paths, with Ospreay heading to Japan and Ricochet signing a deal with WWE NXT. The former recently turned down the opportunity to sign with WWE and became AEW International Champion during yesterday evening's Double or Nothing PPV.

As for Ricochet, he's still trying to climb out of WWE's midcard, something which is easier now Vince McMahon is gone. He's also the first X-exclusive WWE Speed Champion.

Talking to ComicBook.com, Ospreay explained why he's disappointed with Ricochet's standing in WWE.

"I keep up with him all the time and sometimes I get a little bit sad about it," the AEW star said. "I hope he's not sad and I hope he's real happy. I keep up with him as much as I can, but I feel like people are forgetting who Ricochet was once upon a time. All of these high-flyers that you see, and myself included, we all took inspiration from Pac and Ricochet."

"The fact that they only value his time for under five minutes is appalling to me. I just want people to remember who he is. If you go and look at 2012-2013 Dragon Gate Ricochet, he was untouchable at the time. When it came to this generation of high-flyers, he was the greatest. He's the greatest high-flyer ever. I know it sounds weird, but I do include him on the same level as Rey Mysterio."

"I don't know how much longer he has got in his contract, but I think it might be up soon, man, I don't know. I want him to know that there are people here that genuinely appreciate his work and I want to wrestle him again. I want him back here," Ospreay concluded. "I want him to know that there isn't a bar. You are the f***ing bar."

Ricochet's WWE contract reportedly ends this year and there's no denying that he'd be a good fit for AEW. However, his other half, Samantha Irvin, is signed with WWE as a ring announcer and his star is undoubtedly on the rise with Triple H calling the shots.
